I am a clinical neuropsychologist, and the co-owner and co-clinical director of The Stixrud Group. I am passionate about evaluating adolescents and adults with a range of conditions, including learning and attention disorders, social differences, and emotional challenges. I take a flexible approach in my assessments, including a strong focus on identifying strengths and enhancing motivation. A central value in my practice is my commitment to a comprehensive understanding of my clients, and my work includes consistent and frequent collaborations with other providers, such as therapists, educators, psychiatrists, and college consultants, among others. I view these interactions as critical to gaining a complete understanding of my clients.
Dr. Salya Namazi, a neurodivergent affirming provider, is a clinical neuropsychologist who is licensed as a psychologist in Maryland. Understanding the intricate nature of neuropsychological assessment, Dr. Namazi is dedicated to offering practical treatment recommendations to address her clients’ concerns and enhance their quality of life. She remains committed to staying at the forefront of the field, continually integrating the latest research findings into her practice. Moreover, she prioritizes clear, comprehensive, and prompt communication, endeavoring to provide reports for clients, parents, caregivers, and educators that are insightful, practical, and actionable. When evaluating minors, Dr. Namazi typically communicates the results directly to the children, often in a separate meeting. In these discussions, she focuses on emphasizing strengths while validating their experiences. Alongside this, she provides children with personalized written documentation, crafted in clear and understandable language, with the specific intention to inspire and motivate.
Dr. Namazi possesses a comprehensive background in working with individuals of nearly all ages. She completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in adult neuropsychology, during which she concurrently gained valuable experience in pediatrics under the guidance of William R. Stixrud, Ph.D. Prior to her fellowship and training experiences, Dr. Namazi completed an internship specializing in neuropsychological and psychological assessment. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Namazi is involved in academia as a lecturer on developmental differences. She has also recently published an article focusing on the early identification of autism. Her expertise has been recognized and featured in programs like the annual Parenting Autism Summit. Dr. Namazi has actively participated in research studies and grant writing, exploring various areas including cognition, trauma, and medical complexities. In her free time, Dr. Namazi enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband and two children, as well as hiking, cooking, and trying new restaurants.
