Stephanie Hicks (she/her/hers)
offIce manager
I have been with The Stixrud Group since 2008, working as a licensed psychology associate, a client care manager, and now the office manager. My enthusiasm for learning new things and stepping in wherever I am needed quickly gave me the distinction of being the “utility player” of the practice. As a psychology associate, I administer tests to children and adults, and enjoy working with clients with complex, neurodiverse profiles. As a client care manager, I gather information with the intention of matching you or your child to the best clinician for your needs. And, as the office manager, I work to ensure that your experience with The Stixrud Group, from your first phone call to your evaluation, feedback session, and final report is efficient, professional, and, most importantly, positive and compassionate.
Stephanie was born and raised in Maryland. She earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with minors in Philosophy and Spanish (2005), and her Master’s degree in Psychology (2007) from The Catholic University of America. Stephanie joined The Stixrud Group in 2008 as a Licensed Psychology Associate, and also pursued training as a Stixrud Tutor and a CogMed coach. She then added Client Care Manager to her many roles, helping clients and parents explain their concerns, matching them with a psychologist, and arranging their evaluation. When the position of Office Manager opened up, it was only natural for Stephanie to move into that role, which allows her to use her clinical and organizational skills on a daily basis.
As The Stixrud Group’s Office Manager, Stephanie runs the front office, and she often is the first person a client encounters when they call the practice. She explains the ins-and-outs of the practice and helps them make their first few decisions in what can be an emotional and complex process. She then schedules intake phone calls or consultations. She also helps clients navigate the process of seeking reimbursement from their insurance. Stephanie speaks Spanish fluently, and facilitates communication with Spanish-speaking families.
In her down time, Stephanie spends time with her husband, children, and adorable dog. She also volunteers in her neighborhood, at her children’s school, and, since 2018, as a Girl Scout leader.
