Meaghan R. Doyle, Psy.D. (she/her/hers)
Clinical Psychologist
I am a licensed psychologist specializing in the assessment of children and adolescents (ages 8-18) with learning, attention, behavioral, social, and emotional differences. I have a variety of clinical and assessment interests and experience, including but not limited to: ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and learning differences. One universal truth among parents is that we love our kids and want the best for them. Being a parent is hard, even in the best of circumstances, and seeing your child struggle (academically, behaviorally, socially, etc.) makes it that much harder. As the parent of two neurodiverse children, I value a neurodiversity-affirming approach to assessment, which recognizes the many strengths and positive attributes of different types of thinkers as, often, the challenges neurodiverse students face stem from having to navigate a world that was not designed with their brains in mind. I believe that for students to thrive academically, socially, and individually, they and their families need to understand how their brains work, recognize the strengths they can capitalize on, and understand which areas of vulnerability require additional support.
Dr. Meaghan Doyle is a licensed psychologist who strives to understand the whole person and how they move through various contexts and environments (home, school, structured/unstructured social situations, etc.). She goes above and beyond simply testing by ensuring that assessments include interviews with multiple support persons (e.g., teachers, mental health providers, tutors, school psychologists, occupational therapists, coaches, relatives, etc.). Following a feedback session, Dr. Doyle provides an abbreviated school report in addition to a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation report. Dr. Doyle values the relationships she has with her clients, regardless of when the evaluation was, and families are encouraged to stay in touch and reach out if they have questions, need additional referrals, and/or need additional support, guidance, and advocacy
Dr. Doyle graduated from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington, D.C. She completed an APA-accredited internship at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in Newfoundland, Pennsylvania, where she provided assessment, as well as cognitive-behavioral and behavioral therapy services to adults with co-occurring neurodevelopmental (e.g., autism, ADHD, intellectual disability) and psychiatric differences in a residential setting. Before starting her doctoral training, Dr. Doyle graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Master of Science in clinical and community counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Frostburg State University.
Prior to joining the team at the Stixrud Group in 2018, Dr. Doyle provided psychological assessment and behavioral health services in a variety of settings throughout the DMV area, including the Charles County Department of Mental Health, the District of Columbia (D.C.) public charter school system, the D.C. Department of Disability Determination Services, The Treatment and Learning Center (TLC-Outcomes), and private practice. Dr. Doyle also has roots in Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and worked for the state of Maryland as a VR Counselor, where she held a technical specialty in transitioning youth with autism and psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Doyle lives in the D.C. metro area with her husband, twin daughters, and two black cats. She enjoys traveling, live music, cross-stitching, playing with her kids, and spending time with her friends and family.
