Join the Learning Disabilities Association of Montgomery County (LDAMC) as we welcome Dr. William Stixrud and Dr. Donna Henderson for an informative presentation on the Subtle Presentation of Autism.
The Subtle Presentation of Autism: Core features, gender differences, motivation, and self-regulation
In this presentation Dr. Henderson will discuss the core features of autism as they present in children and adolescents with subtle manifestations of symptoms and the particular challenge of recognizing autism in girls. Dr. Stixrud will discuss the motivational and self-regulatory challenges experienced by students with a mild presentation of autism and will emphasize the importance of supporting the development of autonomy.
Participants will learn:
- Ways that autism directly impacts learning.
- Ways that autism symptoms present in children and adolescents who struggle socially but are not obviously autistic.
- Ways in which autism presents differently in girls and boys.
- Reasons that students with autism experience more self-regulatory differences than most students.
- Ways of supporting development of autonomy in students with autism.

Yes. All attendees will be given a certificate of attendance. Are there any discounted tickets available?
Yes, discounted tickets are available by purchasing by Oct 15. Discounted tickets for students in programs to become psychologists, teachers, speech-langauge therapists, or other related professionals are also available. When does the “early bird” ticket price end?
A reduced ticket rate for “early bird” registrations ends at 11:59pm on Monday, Oct 15. After that time, “advanced registration” tickets are for sale. At-the door, tickets are not guaranteed.
