Dr. Erika Wasserman is a licensed psychologist who specializes in the assessment of attention, language, and learning challenges in students ranging in age from early elementary school through the end of high school. Dr. Wasserman has been with The Stixrud Group since 2001, following extensive training in pediatric psychology, clinical psychology, and neuropsychology in inpatient and outpatient settings through her pre-graduate work at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland; graduate work at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida; and internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Also, while on fellowship in Chicago, Dr. Wasserman designed an aggression prevention program and secured grant funding from Children’s Memorial Hospital to implement the program in city public schools. Following internship and postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Wasserman remained in Chicago for an additional year conducting neuropsychological assessments with children and adolescents through her employment at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. Dr. Wasserman then relocated to Maryland to work with The Stixrud Group.
Dr. Wasserman strives to work collaboratively with parents to help them better understand their child’s strengths and challenges, keeping in mind the importance of fostering strengths while also supporting areas of difficulty. She provides information to parents in a straightforward, easy-to-understand manner, with a focus on “real-life” implications of the test findings and concrete recommendations that can be implemented right away. Approximately one week after the feedback conference, parents will receive a written report with all of the test findings and recommendations so that there is no delay in helping their child more comfortably and successfully achieve their potential. Dr. Wasserman values her relationships with her clients and endeavors to form a lasting partnership with families so that they feel comfortable contacting her – even years after their child’s evaluation – to answer follow-up questions they have about the needs of their child.
